A port bow view of a Swedish ketch under engine leaving Tynemouth Harbour during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. The ketch has a blue painted hull with a white stripe running the length of the vessel. The sails on both masts are furled and a Swedish ensign is flying from the top of the mizzen mast. There is a plate near the bow which appears to show the vessel's name. Off the starboard side of the ketch in the distance is a white hulled Bermudan rigged sloop also under motor leaving. A variety of small craft can be seen moored on the left hand side of the image. South Shields Lighthouse and Pier are visible in the background. A partial view of the back of a person's head on Tynemouth Pier is visible in the foreground.
