A port side view of a two-masted topsail schooner and the Archer class training vessel Exploit (1988) leaving Tynemouth Harbour during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. In the distance in front of these two is the Archer class training vessel Express (1988). The schooner is fully dressed overall and has its square topsails on the foremast unfurled. Two small work boats, one with the pennat number "BSL 198" (?) on the port bow, are visible forwards of the bow of the schooner. A small work boat and a variety of moored small craft can be seen in the background on the left hand side of the image. South Shields Lighthouse and Pier are visible off the starboard side of the schooner.
