The village and harbour of Thasos on the island of Thasos, Greece
The village and harbour of Thasos on the island of Thasos, Greece. The photographer is looking north over the harbour and the east side of the village from near the ruins of Agora. A few schooners and caiques are in the east corner of the harbour and a 2-masted schooner is drawn up on the foreshore. A leading light is on the end of the breakwater at the harbour entrance. The west side of the harbour is out of the picture. The Donaldson Line cruise ship Letitia (1925), seen from just ahead of her starboard beam, is anchored offshore. The village is also known as Limenas, which is Greek for 'port'.
