A slightly distant view of the Campanile de San Marco (St. Mark's Campanile), the Doge's Palace and the entrance to the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. The Campanile is the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica located in the Piazza San Marco and is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathnaver (1931) looking west-by-north from the Riva Ca' di Dio. A passenger motor launch is under way on the left.
