The Campanile di San Marco and the Doge's Palace at Venice, Italy. The Campanile is the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica located in the Piazza San Marco and is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. The photographer is on board the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) which is moored off the entrance to the Grand Canal. He is looking aft and to port from the aft end of the promenade deck showing passengers standing by the ship's rail and sitting in deck chairs. Lifeboat number 18 is in her davits on the left.
