A P&O liner; either 'Tasmania' , 'Chusan' (both 1884), 'Coromandel' or 'Bengal' (both 1885)
original art: drawing. Previously wrongly suggested to be the 'Massilia' (which was twin-funnelled) but in fact one of the four ships named above. They were sisters, all three-masted, square-rigged on the fore with double topsail yards, single funnels, four sets of boats laid out as in this image, a small well deck forward, a single row of square ports, etc. The 'Tasmania' sank in 1887 but the other three survived in the fleet until 1905-06.
