Vengeance (1824)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the bow, headrail, head and proposed figurehead for Vengeance (1824), an 84-gun Second Rate two-decker. The drawing was sent from the Navy Board to Plymouth for the carver to complete.
The figurehead is a bust of a crowned bearded male looking forward wearing a toga over his left shoulder, leaving his right shoulder and chest exposed. The trail-board has thunderbolts carved from the scroll carving below the toga ends of the figurehead. The figurehead may represent Zeus, as the attributes relate to him.
