The port side lifeboats on board the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) during an abandon ship lifeboat drill. The photographer is looking aft from the port bridge wing showing the lifeboats swung out and partly lowered. The nested boats 6A, 8A, 10A, 12A,14A and 16A are unmanned and are held close under the davits. The main lifeboats have been fully manned by members of the ship's crew and have been lowered to promenade deck level. No passengers are involved in this drill and only crew members can be seen on the boat deck. A vertical format negative. Negative number P84736 was taken on the same occasion.
