A starboard broadside view of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Stratheden (1937) at anchor in an unknown location. Her port anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door amidships with a local passenger motor launch alongside it. The launch has two names on the raised forecastle bulwark, has a wooden wheelhouse and is fitted with an awning. Another accommodation ladder is rigged aft. Lifeboats 5 and 15 have been launched. One of the ship's motor lifeboats is laden with passengers heading for the shore. A wooded headland is in the left background.
