HMS 'Prince Rupert'
Inscribed by the artist, lower left, 'Prince Rupert'. This coastal monitor was built by William Hamilton & Co. at Port Glasgow, was launched on 20 May 1915 and completed on 12 July 1915. She is shown in 1916 with her rig reduced, bridge extended and fitted with additional 6-inch and 12-pounder guns. She operated from Dover throughout her war service and was broken up at Glasgow from July 1923. Here, in starboard broadside view, she has her forward turret trained round to starboard.
