HMS Renown, Victory, St Vincent
The artist’s inscriptions identify three of the vessels depicted: the three-masted sailing ships St. Vincent and Victory, both of which were still in use as training ships and, on the left, HMS Renown, a second class battleship of 1893. Additionally, the large grey ship in the centre (partly obscured by another, single-funnel vessel) appears to be an armoured cruiser of the Monmouth class.
