A port quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of spritsail barges and an oyster smack under sail at the start of a barge match in the Thames Estuary. On the extreme left is the stern of the staysail barge Scone (1919) with the PREEDCRETE logo on her white topsail. In the left background is the staysail barge Ironsides (1900) with the RDL logo on her topsail. The oyster smack Kate (1883) has her port registry CK139 on the mainsail. The bowsprit barge Gladys (1901) has the Sunblest Bread logo on her topsail and the staysail barge Victor (1895) has a blue and white striped staysail and the Kentish Life logo on her topsail. Beyond these two barges is the staysail barge Oak (1881) with a Duradon logo on her topsail. On the right is the staysail barge Repertor (1924) with all white sails and a Crowned Head logo on her topsail.
