Five spritsail barges under sail in Gravesend Reach, River Thames, passing Tilbury Landing Stage bound down at the start of a barge match. The bowsprit barge Will (1925) is on the left with an OCL logo on her topsail. The barge alongside her has not been identified. The two bowsprit barges in the centre are the Mirosa (1892) with a Blue Circle Cement logo on her topsail and the Gladys (1901) with a logo representing Sunblest Bread. The staysail barge on the right with all white sails and a Crowned Head logo on her topsail is the Repertor (1924). The photographer is looking north across the river from Gravesend.
