A starboard quarter view of the bowsprit spritsail barges Mirosa (1892) and Gladys (1901) under sail racing during the 1981 Blackwater Match. The Mirosa has a white jib and staysail and has the Blue Circle Cement logo on her topsail. The Gladys has a white jib and the Sunblest Bread logo is on her topsail. Both barges are on the starboard tack. The race starts off Osea Island in the Blackwater and runs out into the Thames Estuary to the Wallet Spitway off Clacton before turning for the run back.
