The Tagus River and the statue of Christ the King at Almada, Lisbon, Portugal. The photographer is looking south across the Tagus from the Lisbon shore showing unidentified shipping on the river and the impressive statue of Christ the King on the summit of the Almada Hill. On the right is the early construction works for the Salazar Bridge. these works commenced in November 1962 and the bridge opened in August 1966. The photographer was on a cruise of the British India Steam Navigation Company educational cruise ship Dunera (1937).
