A carefully staged group photograph of Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company senior officers and other staff on board one of the company's passenger liners. The photographer is on the deck aft of the superstructure and he is looking forward at the group which is spread over two decks and a flight of stairs. Three senior officers are on the highest deck and the ship's captain, G.K. Harrison, is on the left of the line. Three more officers are on the stairs.
