A group of British students walking through the Khan al-Umdan in the old city of Acre, Israel, in December. The Khan al-Umdan is the largest and best preserved caravanserai in Israel and is also known as the "Caravanserai of the Pillars" or "Inn of the Columns". It was completed in 1784. The group are inside the main courtyard heading towards the clock tower. The photographer and the group are on a shore excursion from the British India Steam Navigation Company educational cruise ship Dunera (1937) which is berthed in Haifa harbour. A vertical format image. A duplicate transparency. Transparencies numbers PCT181 to PCT187 were taken on the same day.
