The plan bears the signature of Sir Nathaniel Barnaby [Director of Naval Construction 1870-1885]. The title of the plan is "Sheer Drawing for the Protected Sea Going Torpedo Vessel of 16 Knots Speed". Written at the top of the drawing are the words "Picture Sketch to L. Smith 2 December 1882".
