In the wheelhouse on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Strathardle (1967) while alongside the fitting out berth of Mitsui Zosen at Tamano, Japan. The photographer is in the port rear corner of the wheelhouse looking forward and to starboard. An officer is working on a chart in the chartroom in the foreground and another officer is standing by the starboard forward windows. The Strathardle ran trials on 7 January and was handed over to P & O on 20 January before sailing on her maiden voyage to London via Kobe, Yokohama and Hong Kong.
