The photographer is in an elevated position behind the launch platform looking down the ways. The ship is dressed overall and the circular cloth cage suspended above the bow has been opened to release streamers while balloons fill the sky above the ship. Both anchors are suspended below their hawse pipes. Transparencies numbers PCT1442 to PCT1454 were taken on the same occasion.
