On board the British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951) during the unloading of a cargo of Tanganyika sisal at Sunderland, Durham. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to port from the port side at the rear of the bridge deck. Four bales of sisal have been lifted out of number 3 hold and about to be swung ashore by a dockside crane. Some of the sisal is inside the ground floor of the 2-storey storage shed and some is being transferred to an open railway truck. Negatives PM1792/4A to PM1796/30A were taken on the same occasion.
