On board the BOAC Canadair DC4-M4 airliner named Antiope and registered G-ALHR, looking out over the starboard wing while in flight between Nicosia and London Heathrow. The aircraft was first registered on 23 February 1949. The photographer, Henry P. Bird, was heading home to the U.K. having been discharged from the tanker Caltex Melbourne (1945) at Bahrain.
