On board the cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) showing Bernie, the 2nd engineer, holding an electric cable broken during the transfer of a cement coke cargo from a bulk carrier anchored in the Gabon River off Owendo, Gabon. The Munck Transporter was using a grab to distribute the coke in the holds when it ran over its own umbilical electric supply cable which had failed to automatically wind. The photographer is looking aft on the starboard side abreast the forward end of number two hatch. This is Slide 43 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977.
