Alternative turret arrangements for 600 pounder turrets are also present on the drawing The title of the plan is "Profile of an Armour Clad Turret Ship on Capt C. P. Coles principle to carry two 600 pdr or two 300 pdr and four smaller guns per Admiralty Order of 12 December 1864". The plan bears the signatures of Cowper Phipps Coles [Captain Royal Navy 1819-1870] and Joseph Scullard [Head Draughtsman Portsmouth Dockyard 1865]. There is a large tear on the left hand edge of the drawing.
