A general view of the eastern side of the outer harbour at Ramsgate, Kent.
A general view of the eastern side of the outer harbour at Ramsgate, Kent. The Clock Tower, built in 1817, is on the left and the time showing is twelve minutes past two. On the slipways are the fishing trawlers Alice (1874) R 299, Challenger (1880) R448, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's 42 feet standard self-right lifeboat Bradford (1893). All of these vessels are out of the water and are seen from off their port beams. The photographer is looking east and dimly discernible in the background is the obelisk erected to commemmorate the use of the port by King George IV in 1821.
