A starboard side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the yacht Sea Gull (1874) being launched from the beach at Walmer, Kent. Edgar Tarry Adams is at the tiller and he has two crew with him. Three men are manhandling the yacht into the water and one man is using a long pole to push against her stern. Her masts have been unshipped and she is going off to lay-up for the winter. The wind is said to be easterly. Deal pier is in the background. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera B.
