The identity of the boat is not given but the man by the starboard quarter of it is believed to be Mr. J. Nicholas, the boatbuilder. Three children are onlookers and four pitched roof buildings are in the background. Two pairs of boat davits are outside the group of three buildings on the left of the picture.
