A view of the beach and shipping in The Downs from the Adams family residence at The Bungalow , Marine Road, Walmer, Kent. At the top of the beach are two capstans and the Adams family boathouse. To the left of the boathouse is their yacht Sea Gull (1874) and to the right are their rowing boat and the single masted dinghies Sandpiper (1899) and Isabel Adams (Fl. 1890). Out in The Downs there are spritsail barges, schooners and a cutter heading south under sail. A three masted ship rigged vessel in ballast is at anchor.
