At the top of the beach the Adams family boathouse has a flag hoist. To the left of the boathouse is their yacht Sea Gull (1874) which is dressed overall with flags. Out in The Downs there is a tug towing three large lighters. The tug has a steadying foresail and the leading lighter has a jib and foresail set. A spritsail barge and a few yachts are under sail.
