The photographer is in a boat just offshore looking north-north-west showing the four-storey terrace of dwellings numbered 1 to 5 Victoria Parade and at the end of this terrace is the Time Ball Tower. At the water's edge and with her lugsail hoisted is the adams family dinghy Sandpiper (1899). A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera A.
