A port quarter view of the two masted, lug rigged yacht Sea Gull (1874) laid up on the shingle beach at Walmer, Kent. Her bow is pointing inland and a man is standing by the bow of the boat which has had her masts unshipped. Standing at the doorway of the adjoining boathouse is Mrs. Helen Adams and her eldest son, Francis Norris Adams. The buildings in the background are in The Strand and above the yacht's cabin is the Lord Clyde public house at 59 The Strand.
