She is on the starboard tack in very calm conditions and Francis Norris Adams is at the helm. The Adams family referred to this boat as "the lifeboat". A Royal Navy torpedo boat destroyer and a single funnel, two masted steamer are at anchor in the background. A note on the vertical format negative says the photographer is using Camera B.
