A slightly distant starboard quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the lug rigged dinghy Isabel Adams (Fl. 1890) being rowed in The Downs, off Walmer, Kent. A lantern is fitted on a halyard attached to the unstayed mast. The four Adams family children, Francis Norris, Isabel Mary, Gordon and Pauline are in the boat and Francis is at the oars. The Adams family referred to this boat as "the lifeboat".
