A bow view, taken from very fine off the starboard bow, of the lug rigged dinghy Isabel Adams (Fl. 1890) under sail approaching Walmer beach, Kent. Francis Norris Adams is at the helm and the boat is on the starboard tack, heading straight through the surf for the beach at speed. The Adams family refer to this boat as "the lifeboat". The top of the mast and the upper part of the lug sail are out of the picture. A vertical format negative.
