A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the lug rigged yacht Sandpiper (1899) under sail in The Downs. She is on the port tack in a following wind with a small staysail set and the lugsail boomed out to starboard. She is flying the burgee of the Cambridge University Cruising Club. Edgar Tarry Adams is at the helm. The two funnelled, barque rigged, boys training ship Northampton (1876) is on the skyline. A vertical format negative.
