A slightly distant port bow view of an Adams family lug rigged dinghy at the water's edge of an unknown foreshore, probably in south-east England. The boat is either the Spitfire (1898) or the Sandpiper (1899). An elderly gentleman with a flourishing beard, and wearing a cap, is sitting in the boat, looking at the photographer. The foreshore is covered in seaweed. A terrace of two-storey dwellings is on the left and a small town is in the centre background, with a church to the left of centre. A ketch is at anchor in the background.
