Lid for box made from parts of the 'Royal George', 'Edgar' and H.M.S. 'Victory
A box with lid made of the wood of the ship of the line 'Royal George', which sank at Spithead in 1782 and of the ship of the line 'Edgar', which was blown up in 1711 and HMS 'Victory.' Inscribed on a circular brass plate on the lid are the words: 'The bottom of this box is made from a piece of the EDGAR blown up about 111 years ago; the top from a piece of the ROYAL GEORGE which sunk in the year 1782; the centre piece is part of the RIDER that LORD NELSON died against AD 1818.'
