Inside the pipe bending shop in No. 1 Smithery in Chatham Dockyard. The photographer is looking south-south-west showing the floor slab. Laid on the slab is an hydraulic pipe bending tool. On the left is the steel support for the electric crane. The south furnace is at the end of the shop. The pipe bending shop was erected in 1869 as a smithery slab shop by in-filling between the foundry and the boiler houses.
