Virago (1842)
Scale 1:48. Plan shows the inboard profile, originally for the Driver class paddle sloop Growler but corrected for Virago (1842). The title of the drawing is "Profiles of Inboard Works for 'Growler' corrected for Virago nominal (?) engines of 289 Horse Power by Messrs Seaward". The plan bears the signature of Sir William Symonds [Surveyor of the Navy 1832-1847].The drawing also shows alterations in green ink made at Sheerness Dockyard dated September 1861. A note on the drawing states that the engines were built by Messrs Boulton & Watt and further alterations to the engine spaces are shown in the black dotted lines on the plan. A further note on the drawing written in red ink states "See sketch of the 13th August 1841 copies for the Virago Works in the Engine Room and the Engines by Messrs Boulton & Watt dated 19 October 1841".
