A smith making a chain at his bench in Number 5 Machine Shop in Chatham Dockyard. He is using an oxy-acetylene blow torch to heat the link laid on a steel block, to be able to open the link. A completed link is on the bench. A vertical format image. Transparencies numbers PCT3365 to PCT3378 were taken during the same operation.
