2 lighters berthed alongside the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959) in Port Klang, Malaysia. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the upper bridge deck looking down and aft. Parcels of sawn timber are stacked and lashed on the main deck with 5 crewmen sitting on top of the parcels in the foreground on the right side of the image. One of the lighters is loaded with more parcels of sawn timber with a crewmen standing in front of the of the wheelhouse. The second lighter is empty and is berthed behind the first lighter and has a crewman standing to the left of the wheel house. Two davits are in the middle ground on London Explorer. The top of the white and blue funnel of London Explorer is in the middle ground. An unidentified cargo ship with a black and red funnel is berthed on the far dockyard in the background. This is Slide 32 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
