A view of the foredeck of the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) at sea. The photographer is standing inside the wheelhouse on the starboard side looking forward and slightly to port. There are three buoys fastened to the starboard side of the foredeck. A second orange and white buoy is attached to the boom and hanging off the starboard side of the vessel. A forth buoy is fastened to the foredeck on the port side. This is Slide 3 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer on board the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by the Commercial Cable Company of London from 22 January 1973 to 26 April 1973. The series consists of 62 slides.
