Vehicles disembarking from a Red Funnel Line ferry at East Cowes, Isle of Wight. A canvas covered flatbed lorry has just disembarked from the open bow door whilst a vehicle towing a caravan is driving towards the ramp. Cars are parked outside the White Hart Inn on the left side. Bird's service as summer relief Chief Officer on board various ferries operated by Red Funnel (also known as Southampton, Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited) from 27th July 1973 until late August 1973.
