The Cable and Wireless Cable Ltd depot in Suva, Fiji taken from the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922). There is a black two hold lighter in the foregound. The Cable and Wireless depot is on the quayside in the middle ground. cable is being transferred from the depot to the ship. A second white building bearing the words 'Bish Ltd Engineers Est. 1906' is situated just behind the cable depot. A large oil storage tank bearing the Shell logo is in the middle ground. A hill with houses built on the slope is in the background. This is Slide 19 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer for the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by Commercial Cable Company of London from 26 November 1975 to 24 April 1976. This series consists of 33 surviving slides.
