Folkestone bog boat type Good Luck

The Folkestone 'bog boat'-type fishing boat shown in this photograph is ca. 35ft in length, and shown aground on mud at low tide in Folkestone's drying harbour, with a steel-hulled Thames sailing barge, apparently in service, in the background, along with sundry other small vessels. The name of the barge, shown on a plate at its bow, is Harold. The furthest of two small motor passenger vessels to the right is named Southern Queen, and the nearer of the two, Southern Queen II. The Folkestone fishing boat is regd FE82 and has an elliptical 'coaster' or 'tug' stern, as did later Morecambe Bay prawners. In this case a steel rudder is hung. The boat's bulwarks are severely damaged. Amidships on deck is a large net winch. The boat is apparently steered by a helmsman standing on deck. The deck is pierced by three small hatches.
