Polperro
A carvel-built gaff cutter of ca. 19ft regd FY168 is viewed from above the port beam, afloat and moored from the bow to an unseen point on the quay. Its mainsail is furled and staysail stowed. A glazed lamp to illuminate net- or pot-handling at night is fixed to a post between the mast and transom. Immediately beyond FY168 a clinker-built boat of some 14ft with a bowsprit, the short mast of a lugsail and a leg-of-mutton mizzen sheeted to a bumkin is sailing across the harbour under mizzen only, with three men and, apparently, one dog, aboard.
