Eastbourne lugger Star of the East
This view from astern of the Eastbourne lugger Star of the East, regd NN66, shows the boat heeled over to starboard, with the beach falling steeply away from its stern towards the camera. Fishing gear visible includes a curved rod to which a net hanging over the port gunwale is fastened. To the steel rudder post is fixed a steel tiller which is curved to clear the mizzen mast. The blades of oars lashed to the topsides below the gunwale are visible to starboard.
