Sayajirao Gaekwad III

A black and white studio portrait photograph of Sayajirao Gaekwad III aged about 12. He wears a turban, embroidered tunic, ornate belt and light-coloured trousers. His right arm is leant on a table and his left rests on the hilt of a long sword. He sits sideways on a tassled chair. Original caption: 'The Gaekwar of Baroda'.

Sayajirao became Maharaja of Baroda (in Gujarat) aged 12. He ruled from 1875 until his death in 1939.
