A general view of ships of convoy WS.7 berthed in Victoria Basin, Cape Town harbour, South Africa, with other vessels. On the extreme left alongside No. 2 Jetty is the stern of the troopship Strathallan (1938) seen from off her port side abaft the beam. Beyond her at No. 7 Quay is the afterpart of the troopship Andes (1939) seen from wide off the port bow. Alongside the East Pier and seen from abaft her port beam is the 3-funnelled troopship Empress of Canada (1922). In the foreground is Collier Jetty with the troopship Orcades (1937), seen from fine off her port bow, on its south side. The cargo ship King James (1925) is on the north side of Collier Jetty with the Norwegian tanker Dageid (1931) outboard. Alongside No. 3 Quay in the right background is the cargo liner City of Melbourne (1919). A copy negative made by the NMM studio of a photographic print.
