Sri Lankan snake charmers
An uncaptioned black and white landscape photograph of four Sri Lankan men giving a snake charming performance. The men sit on the ground, facing the camera, in a semi-circle. Each man is barechested, wears a loincloth or sarong-like garment, is playing a flute with a bulbous middle (called a pungi in some parts of South Asia) and is barefoot. Three of the men wear turbans. A fifth man, also barechested and wearing a sarong-like garment, stands behind the men to the right of the image. Six cobras can be seen in the immediate foreground, all rearing up with their hoods clearly visible. A seventh snake, possibly a python, lies across the ground from the right to the left of the image. A planked shed or hut can be seen in the background with more trees behind it.
